Blackpink Take Over Buckingham Palace

The ladies of Blackpink had themselves a very stylish, very regal 24 hours at Buckingham Palace. Today, they received Honorary MBEs (Members of the Order of the British Empire) from King Charles, awarded to them in recognition of their work for the 2021 COP26 Summit in Glasgow.

The looks were classic, sophisticated, restrained, and very coordinated, they look great together.

It might not be the most photogenic, but we love the textile of Lisa’s dress and cape. Rosé chose a pantsuit, which really helped to break up the looks a little. It looks great on her, but we hate that trailing piece of the bow hanging down the front.

Jisoo’s butterfly belt is really cute and brightens up what could have been a dour (although well-tailored) suit. Similarly, the trim and buttons on Jennie’s look do a lot to keep it from looking funereal. But that’s not all! The night before, they attended the state dinner for the South Korean president and these ladies SERVED:

Rosé’s black strapless is perfectly fine, but it’s probably the least interesting of the four, except that it’s somewhat bold to go strapless for an event like this. Jisoo’s has a sweetly romantic shape and style, but it’s more interesting because of the deeply textured look of the textile. She could’ve used some sort of jewelry to lighten it just a little, although maybe she was going for a goth fairy tale sort of vibe.

Jennie’s simple white gown is lovely, but it looks like the volume may be overwhelming her slightly. We doubt this is the first time metallic platform stilettos have been worn inside the palace, but Lisa’s working the hell out of hers. They go great with her gown, which has a head-turning color that still manages to be a little subtle. The beading is stunning.
