We were thrilled when the pictures from the annual LACMA Art + Film Gala started rolling. It’s always a parade of A-listers in a parade of eye-popping Gucci looks. What is not to love about that? For instance, here’s Ben Affleck in a tux and Jennifer Lopez in a series of dumb decisions! Let’s take a closer look:

This is one of those moments when we have a brief pang of sympathy while thinking it must be exhausting to be J Lo. Then we remember how lucrative it is to be J Lo and our sympathy evaporates. But truly, this ensemble looks like it would leave you sore if you wore it for too long. You can’t relax for a second in this outfit if there are any cameras around. Granted, that’s the point of it, but we figure if you’re going to go to the trouble, you’d want the pictures to have a little more impact. Beige lace, people. It should be outlawed. At the very least, it should be lined, not because we’re prudish but because sheer lace that close to one’s skin tone leaves the wearer looking like they have some sort of condition. The pointy-toed sandals with the plastic strap are horrible, but nothing is as bad as the decision to wear high-waisted skin-tone panties with this design. Lining the skirt wouldn’t have solved every problem with the design (that bra isn’t too great), but it would at least mitigate the problem of multiple waists and a Barbie crotch.
