Two Hawkes and a Linney hit the Toronto International Film Festival red carpet for the premiere of Wildcat, Ethan Hawke’s latest directorial effort, starring his daughter Maya as author Flannery O’Connor, with Laura Linney playing her mother. They made for an extremely well-coordinated trio. We don’t know if they all got on a group text to plan out the strict black-and-white color story, but it works for them. It’s also kind of nice how distinct each of their styles are.
It’s giving “ingenue making a Serious Actress turn,” which is exactly right for this moment. We don’t love the shoes and we think she could’ve used some jewelry, but it’s not a bad look at all.
Credit to him for choosing an unconventional jacket, but we don’t think this one is particularly flattering to him. Love the shoes. We’ve spent the last few years silently bemoaning his grooming. It’s gotten a little better, but it’s still not great.
A bit too much on the asymmetry front for our tastes, but we like the print and we like how the whole look pops out and grabs your attention next to her more sedately dressed co-workers.
