The celebu-ladies came a-running to sit front row at the Schiaparelli Couture show in Paris, presumably eager to model some of those fabulously bizarre designs of theirs. Surprisingly, most of the looks were fairly simple and clean.

Sure, the bathmat shrug offers quite the capital-M Moment, and you can’t ever discount the weirdness of Schiaparelli jewelry pieces, but that gown is downright sleek. We prefer the look without the shrug because you can take in all of the other styling choices better. Love the headwrap and those glorious stacked bangles.

This is wonderful for her. It might be one of our favorite things she ever wore. Yes, we’re aware that a black pantsuit isn’t exactly the most unique or interesting of style choices, but some many little elements and choices make this way more than the sum of its parts. The embroidered lapel, the curved hem of the jacket, the pleats (which really suit her) and the flare of the pants all combine to lend the look a real sense of chicness and high fashion. Her hair looks great and we love the jewelry.

It’s an interesting design but we find ourselves wishing that we could say the combination of those sleeves with an oversized dress shirt is intriguing. Can’t do it. They just don’t combine well, to our eyes. The unusual buttons don’t work with the design either. There are a lot of things you can do with a plain white dress shirt but this isn’t one of them. The mismatched white of the shoes really bugs.

LOVE this. That blue is really unexpected. As always with Schiaparelli, the touches of gold make the look. This is chic in an easy, low-key way, which is not at all how we’d normally describe Schiaparelli.
