Why is The Prince’s Trust holding a pre-coronation ball in New York? No idea, but we suspect a whole bunch of revolutionary soldiers were rattling angrily in their graves all over the state. We, for our purposes, are more than happy to rate the fashion of the attending royal fans, so let’s pick some of the more notable ones from the bunch and give them ye olde judgy treatment.

This is a super-hot look that is almost hilariously wrong for an event like this one. Not that King Charles cares, but the rest of the attendees seemed to be keeping things pretty formal. Still, we love the whole look except for the DSquared2 belt, which only distracts.

A delicately pretty gown that’s served well both by its wearer and by the backdrop, which sets it off beautifully. Butterfly motifs can come off chintzy and juvenile, but this one is sophisticated and subtle. We love how they extend up to the neck. We wonder if it was annoying to wear.

A classic wearing a classic. It’s not anything we haven’t seen before, but as with everything Iman puts on, she’s working it to perfection.

Kate Beckinsale in Georges Chakra Couture

Ah, there she is. There’s our Tacky Glam queen. No one can work a scandalous or eye-searing gown like she can. This all sounds very backhanded, but we genuinely love this. You can’t miss it and you won’t forget it.

Rita Ora in Richard Quinn

Meh. It’s giving Gypsy Rose Lee in a mega-bra. We might have liked it more in a bolder color. The styling is too literal. Ditch the opera gloves and the bouffant.

This is very pretty, but we’d like it more without those pieces hanging off the back.
