The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey attended their very first Met Gala and they sauntered in wearing one of the best looks of the night.
This year, the Costume Institute exhibit from which the Met Gala derives its theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. This is a much more easily interpreted theme than most of the recent Met Galas (which was by design, we think), so the majority of attendees wound up paying tribute to his work and aesthetic. This was one of the more subtle and impressionistic of the tributes, with the pearl beading evoking a signature Chanel aesthetic while the minimalist menswear elements come straight from Lagerfeld’s own wardrobe. But what we love most about it is how it feels very true to Bella. We’ve said a few times that we’re not the people to ask when it comes to what constitutes Non-Binary Chic – and sure, “a skirt with pants” could easily be seen as a too-obvious interpretation – but for us, this is perfect example of how non-binary stars can shift the conversation about red carpet style. We love how the makeup, hair and boots contribute to the overall look.
