Say what you will about her (pretty much everyone has at this point), but Lea Michele had the kind of career year that a lot of actors dream of; stepping into an iconic role and saving a Broadway production from ruin after years of having your personality and work habits (rightly) criticized. She may never completely change certain people’s idea of her, but that’s how fame works. You have to take the notoriety that comes with it and do your best work in order get past the scandals and gossip. She might be a nightmare to work with for all we know, but there’s no denying that she delivers what audiences are looking for. Anyway, the slightly rehabilitated star took a bit of a victory lap last night as one of the Time100 honorees at the annual gala. We are pleased to announce that she didn’t lapse into her old style habits (teeny little dresses with maximum exposure) for the occasion:
Mugler is a pretty good option for the gal who loves a sexy frock but knows she has to go formal for the evening. We think the bodice is a bit overdesigned, but it’s a striking, sexy, pretty look. She keeps posing with her hands in front of her and we wonder if it’s because the skirt puffs up right at that point, which is a little distracting/unflattering. We also think she could have done something a bit more interesting with her hair. And finally, modesty panels never really work. Despite all of that, we still kinda like this for her. It feels very grande dame, with an edge.
