Darlings, it makes us a little sad that two episodes of Yellowjackets’ second season have flown by without any of our commentary. Our vacation simply wasn’t a great time to start recapping the new season of a show. We promise this week’s podcast will have plenty of opinions about those sassy, meat-eating ’90s girls and their wacky ways. Until then, we’ll just have to give you our thoughts on the cast’s rather stylish (or in less flattering terms, overdressed) appearance at PaleyFest.
Christina Ricci
Hunh. The jumpsuit’s a cute idea, but we really don’t like that salmony pink and we don’t think the necklace or the shoes go with it all that well.
Courtney Eaton in Alessandra Rich
Hunh. We totally forgot that Princess Diana style was briefly trendy again this past year. We don’t mind the dress, but we don’t think the boots go with it at all.
Kevin Alves
Boy, he’s really committed to the ’90s teen boy styling, isn’t he? This is borderline cosplay. We also tend to think, casual event or not, that sleeves are required here.
Lauren Ambrose
This is photogenic and comfy, which makes it somewhat perfect for the venue, but we don’t love the print and we think the style is a little mumsy. At the very least, a belt would’ve helped.
Liv Hewson
If you turned those thick straps into spaghetti straps, this would be a dead-perfect ’90s tribute. We really don’t love the pants. We do love the Docs but we don’t feel they pair well with flares and a crop top.
Melanie Lynskey
This is very cute, but we wish she’d buttoned the jacket. We understand that everyone has preferences about how they want their clothes to fit their body, but she routinely chooses silhouettes that turn her into a square and we wish she wouldn’t.
Samantha Hanratty in Versace
Miss, this is entirely too much for a PaleyFest panel. We appreciate the commitment to glamour, but in this setting, a sexy Versace gown comes off a little tryhard.
Simone Kessell
It’s funny. As soon as she takes off the jacket, we start hating the shoes. It’s a fine enough look – better with the jacket on, we think – but those pumps feel all wrong with it. Black patent leather or silver, please.
Sophie Nélisse
Very cute and not overwrought or overdressed for the occasion. We just wish the skirt didn’t have that awful line of ball fringe.
Steven Krueger
What’s the point in wearing a sheer crocheted shirt and then covering it up with dreary schlubwear? Go home and start over.
Tawny Cypress
The idea is cute, but a brown velvet suit can’t be made to look snappy. It’s an inherently dreary garment.
Warren Kole
This is borderline cute, but it doesn’t quite get there. Keep the jacket and the shoes. Put on a shirt with buttons and a pair of jeans and this all comes together stylishly instead of slightly goofily.
