Palm Springs International Film Awards Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on January 06, 2023

Of course we gave spotlight posts to some of the actress award frontrunners (Cate, Viola, Michelle and Michelle), but it’s time to round up the rest of the attendees of the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards and tell them all what we think of their campaigning styles. LFG!

Austin Butler in Ferragamo

While it might be a weensy bit oversized on him, we do like his sense of flair (if not flare) in his style. The boy’s got swag. He can make the most standard formalwear look fresh.

Bill Nighy

While we hate to critique a beloved actor, and we fully understand that many actors (especially of the senior and English persuasions) aren’t into putting on a fashion show at all, we must protest those beat-all-to-hell shoes, sir.

Brendan Fraser

Love the velvet jacket, although it’s a little short on him. We wish the pants were several shades darker.

Brian Tyree Henry

He looks great, but the gloves come off as a distracting affectation.

Colin Farrell

Can’t argue with any of that, although the hair’s a little too wet and a little too ’90s boy band for us.

Danielle Deadwyler in Carolina Herrera

Pure stunning. She looks amazing and we love how her hair shape balances out the dress shape. We wish the hem were a little longer and we wish the pumps either matched better or provided more contrast.

Hong Chau

If the bodice fit a little better and she wore a belt, we might have liked this more, but the textile doesn’t photograph well.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Pretty damn fabulous.

Paul Dano

Very profesh. No complaints. We see those straight-from-the-box shoes, sir.

Seth Rogen

FINALLY. Someone has the bright idea of pairing velvet pants with their velvet formal jacket. What has taken you guys so long? He looks fabulous.

Stephanie Hsu in Valentino Couture

The design is a little basic and perhaps a little too precious for our tastes, but she looks really pretty here.

Thuso Mbedu in Louis Vuitton

A gorgeous gown, although the neckpiece/collar kind of gets lost in the design.
