It’s one thing to opt for a dress with a lot of ruffles, but when each of those ruffles is beaded and pleated, the effect is bound to become overwhelming to the wearer. But the longer we look at this, the less of a problem we have with the ruffles, which are pretty in their own way, if a little overdone as an element. What really bugs is the overall shape, which is what really gives the impression she’s being overwhelmed by the dress, and the color, which does less than nothing for her. Both the shoes and the dress seem like particularly poor choices for that dress, which probably required a little more exuberance on top of the head and a little less down at the feet.
