Miss Janelle threw caution to the wind and freed the nipple at the Critics Choice Awards. We’re just happy to see her shake up her style a little bit.

In a momentary fit of mania, we considered putting this one up to an “IN or OUT” vote, but we think we’d just be inviting the kind of moralistic finger-wagging we don’t want to encourage here. It’s a sleek, sexy gown with some interesting details that make it more than just a curtain for her nipples. We like the ruching and we don’t mind the raw edges of the halter neckline, but surrounding the cutouts, they tend to have an unfortunate effect from a few feet away. We’re honestly a little surprised that detail wasn’t reconsidered, although maybe the effect is deliberate, given everything else going on. We do like the shape and we think her head styling is gorgeous. It’s nice to see her get away from some of the cutesy stuff she prefers, but we think this design would look so much better without the cutouts.
