Cate Blanchett hit the Governors Awards red carpet in a recycled gown that made us kind of hope her whole Oscar campaign is nothing but re-wears. Similarly, the woman who seems to be her chief rival for the Oscar, Viola Davis, hit the same red carpet in a Christopher John Rogers gown that made us kind of hope her whole Oscar campaign is nothing but Christopher John Rogers gowns.
Because they suit her incredibly well. Having said that, the bust of this gown looks a little overworked and ill-fitted. The fabrics are puckering in a way that tends to bring the whole look down a little. It’s a shame, because the skirt is a pure stunner. Love the earrings, love the hair. It’s a great look with one really distracting bad detail.
