Let’s wrap this week up by doing some quick n’ dirty driveby judgments on all the celebrity style looks still left in our folders, shall we? A cleanse, if you will.
Chris Hemsworth
It’s boring and his shirt’s too unbuttoned, but we can’t claim he doesn’t look fine.
Claire Foy in Rosetta Getty
We’re amazed at how the top and the pants are so wrong for her in such different ways. She also needs to stop favoring white on the red carpet, because we don’t think it’s very friendly to her.
Diane Kruger in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
Stunning.
Idina Menzel in Khoon Hooi
Just an astonishingly overthought and overdesigned dress. We love her, but this looks terrible on her. The colors are horrible together.
Isabelle Huppert in Dior Couture
Just the most insanely chic fashion witch you ever saw. Pure flawlessness.
Linda Cardellini
This is the kind of look where we really have to stop and catch ourselves before we type something incredibly mean. We’ll just say this: the shape is kind of dowdy, the lace inserts are horrifying and the matching lace shoes made us wince.
Lucy Boynton in Chanel
Oof. We’re afraid we don’t like any of this. From the waist down is a suitable option for an 80-year-old and the blouse is just badly designed.
Luke Evans
The shoes are a little silly and the suit’s a little dull, but like Hemsworth above, we can’t claim he’s not looking fine in this boring outfit.
Marion Cotillard in Chanel
The overalls straps are a really awkward element in an otherwise chic dress.
Marlee Matlin in Chanel
The top is cute, but pleated leather pants are a hellish concept.
Maya Rudolph in Valentino
We’re all for caftans and other forms of comfy, roomy fashion on the red carpet, but this just looks like a Snuggie.
Michiel Huisman
A pretty man in a decent suit who needs to shave.
Mila Kunis
This is surprisingly cute, although we wouldn’t have recommended pairing brown suede with that skirt.
Nazanin Boniadi in Chanel
It’s not the freshest look in the world, but there’s nothing wrong with classic Chanel.
Octavia Spencer and Will Ferrell
She looks cute. We don’t know what his deal is.
Olivia Wilde in Gabriela Hearst
It’s been a very breastplatey time in fashion recently. We could unpack why so many women feel the need to armor up at the moment, but we feel like we’d be stating the obvious. We like the concept, but the black part of the dress needed something to make it just a little more interesting.
Patrick Dempsey in Gucci
Can’t argue with that.
Taylor Russell in Alexander McQueen
Both chic and hot at the same time. She has a real knack for the side cutout.
Tessa Thompson in Chanel
We suspect this looked much better in person. It kinds of soaks up all the light in pictures. The jacket looks really nice, though.
