And now, beautiful celebrity fashion dolls. Let’s judge them.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult, stars of the upcoming The Menu, continue their prettiness onslaught by showing up at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Party. You would think a guy in a standard tux standing next to a woman in a white lace gown would read like a couple of wedding cake toppers, but Miss Anya’s frock is a little too weird and unconventional for that. He looks very good and we like the subtle gray of the tux, but let’s face it: she’s pulling all the focus.
Y’know, we are almost convinced on this one, believe it or not. We still don’t like white lace on red carpets (it looks strange in the setting and tends to photograph dingy) and we think she’s too pale for all-white ensembles, but this is genuinely strange dress and that automatically makes it more interesting than the usual white lace gown. For us, this falls down on the styling and a few details. The pony tails have to go. They don’t suit her and they just look odd with the dress. We also don’t think the necklace is right for the neckline and we believe the dress design would be improved if it didn’t have that front slit.
