Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain at the BFI London Film Festival THE GOOD NURSE Premiere

Leanin’ Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain served up some classic old school glamour at the premiere of their surprise film that no one knew anything about The Good Nurse, at the BFI London Film Festival.

Leanin’ Eddie opted to serve his classic look with one major twist while Jessica stuck pretty closely to the ’40s retro styles she favors (and which tend to favor her right back). We have notes. Of course we have notes.

For a film actor, he is surprisingly bad at composing his face for pictures. We tease him for his leaning and grimacing, but we’re honestly a little confused by how he tends to act on a red carpet. He’s good looking, he seems to enjoy wearing up-to-date styles, he’s a celebrated film actor. So why does he always look like he’s stuck in a hostage situation? Anyway, the suit is nice until you get a load of the back. The beading is wildly overdone and pretty much ruins the suit from any angle but straight on. The fit’s fantastic, though.

She’ll never look bad in styles like these, even when the styling is literal to the period it’s referencing. Sure, she could’ve picked the shoes and the hair and the jewelry to be less literal 1940s styles, but the overall look can’t be beat and somehow she manages not to look like she’s in costume. Our only quibble here is with the textile, which comes off a little flimsy in pictures. The color could be a shade or two darker as well, but we do love the orange and gold color story going on here.
