New Character Posters and Featurette Marking the One-month Countdown Until BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Debut

Posted on October 11, 2022

Marvel Entertainment and Disney continued their pre-release promotional push for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever by dropping a short featurette with the cast as well as a whole bunch of high-quality character posters.

We suppose one could make a cynical argument about how they’re using Chadwick Boseman’s memory to justify and promote the film, but there are easy rebuttals to that idea. He gave every indication that he knew how important not just T’Challa but all of Wakanda was as fictional creations in fantasy settings. He knew it was all bigger than him and he knew firsthand how much it inspired people to see it. When the cast and director say that this is what he would have wanted, we believe them. As for the posters, they’re gorgeous, especially in the ways they bring us up close to costume designer Ruth E. Carter’s work. We’re especially taken by the jewelry and breathing mask designs for Namor and his people. She must have had a wonderful time expanding on her award-winning afro-futurist design work by getting to play with Aztec design motifs.

Posters are now available for all key characters, featuring Letitia Wright (Shuri), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Florence Kasumba (Ayo), Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams), Michaela Coel (Aneka), Mabel Cadena (Namora), Alex Livinalli (Attuma), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Martin Freeman (Everett Ross) and Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda).

In the film, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. When Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, alerts them to a global threat and his disturbing plan to thwart it, the Wakandans band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, opens in theaters November 11, 2022.
