Not that she truly needed to, but Penélope Cruz reasserted her global superstar status this week by promoting her new Italian film and her new Spanish film at the Venice Film Festival while sporting the wares of the most iconic French fashion house of them all (plus one D&G look). To quote one Miss Patsy Stone, the absolute authority on such matters, “She’s fabulous on an international level, darling.”

It took a minute for the print to register and we think that kind of indicates how the design doesn’t serve it particularly well. It’s a nice enough dress, but it doesn’t really scream Chanel.

This is fantastic, though. Bold, striking and pretty. She looks great in it and we suspect it’s impossible to take a bad picture of her at this moment. We tend to think an up do would’ve set that necklace off a little better, although we’re not entirely convinced it works with the neckline. It’s been a thing lately to wear necklaces that rest right on the neckline like this. It’s not wrong so much as sometimes it just doesn’t look quite right.
OUT AND ABOUT IN CHANEL
Oh, this is SUPER cute. Maybe the jeans are a little gimmicky with the polka dots and the Chanel logo, but that jacket and vest look really great on her. The whole outfit is heavily Chanel-branded, but we would have liked to have seen this with a plain pair of jeans and a different bag, just because it’s inherently more stylish to mix your casual wear pieces.

Meh. She looks like she hates it and we’re pretty much there with her. The design is basic and the fit in the bodice is so bad that we don’t understand why she’s bothering with this dress at all. Love the hoops, though.

Back to stunning. This looks great on her. Our only suggestion is that we would have liked a necklace and some showier earrings.
