The cast of Spin Me Around came out for the film’s LA screening and we are impressed with how consistent their approaches were for the event. Maybe these aren’t the most high-fashion looks you’ll see this week – and they’re certainly not the trendiest – but no one really fumbled or made particularly questionable choices either. Kudos for traveling the middle path, everyone! We’re still going to judge you all.
Alison Brie (in David Koma) and Dave Franco
They look pretty good. She can be incredibly iffy on her dress choices but we don’t mind this one so much. The color and shape suit her well. We don’t love that arm thingy (can’t quite bring ourselves to call it a sleeve) and the textile photographs poorly, but for the most part, this works. He’s certainly not pushing any envelopes or anything, but it’s a nicely presentable outfit that fits and takes a good picture. We appreciate the tucked-in shirt and belt deployment, since a lot of guys wouldn’t have bothered. We don’t think you can do a highwater hem with pleated pants, however.
Aubrey Plaza in Valentino
It’s a little “sexy nun” but we can’t say that’s necessarily a bad thing for her. We can’t really bring ourselves to gush about this look being flawless or anything, but it’s worth noting that we spent a good ten minutes running through possible changes or improvements and, aside from maybe lowering the altitude on those shoes, we couldn’t come up with anything. It’s a low-key event and she doesn’t need to pile on the jewelry or put on sparkly sandals to make this look better.
Again: a cute, low-key look that suits her and for which we can offer no advice on how to improve it. Is it our favorite style? Are we dazzled by it? Not really, but we can’t see anything wrong with it either.
Debby Ryan in Lafayette 148 New York
On the other hand, this is kind of fun and loaded with more personality than those cocktail dresses. We loathe the footwear, but the rest of it is great.
