Taylor Swift had herself a great night at the VMAs and now we’re gonna be total bitches about it.
You’d think we’d be all about the sparkle here, but we’re afraid we just don’t love this. There might have been a time when a naked dress made out of crystals seemed exciting or cheeky or even shocking, but for the 2022 VMAs, this is one of the most sedate looks of the night. That’s not a crime, of course; especially since Taylor’s always been more about conventional glamour than being edgy or shocking. But the design just doesn’t set us on fire. It looks heavy (and loud). As we noted in our Cosmopolitan writeup, she looks like she ran through a display of Christmas tinsel. We really don’t like the strappy things hanging off it. The makeup is fun, the earrings are fab, and while the shoes are kinda fun on their own, they add too much jingle-jangle to a look that already has enough of it going on. But Tay has her defenders, so let’s hear it. You guys make the final call on this one.
