When you read the words “Lizzo in Gucci,” a certain expectation is going to form in your mind, if you’re the sort of person to have expectations regarding celebrities and high fashion brands. We’d say she met those expectations (which, in our case, said expectations involve the words “sparkle” and “exuberance”), while managing to surprise us a little.
Yes, it’s big and bold and sparkly and exuberant. All the Lizzo markers are in place. But we’re surprised by how sophisticated the look is – for a Gucci, that is. It’s amazing what a toned-down color story can do for a big sparkly feather gown. Her hair is amazing and the earrings are chic. We just wish the neckline had been taped down or secured in some way. Obviously, the lace is exposed on purpose, but because the neckline is a little all over the place, it winds up looking like it’s not on purpose.
