Keke Palmer in David Koma at the LIGHTYEAR Los Angeles Premiere: IN or OUT?

Posted on June 09, 2022

It’s been a minute or two since we had a real “We have no idea what to make of this” red carpet moment. Keke Palmer, co-starring in Lightyear with Chris Evans, showed up at the Pixar movie premiere in what we can only classify as a very Pixar sort of look:

It is, if nothing else, thematically consistent. We love the skirt and we think the sandals are fun. Our first impulse is to suggest that a knee-length (or higher) version of the skirt would work a whole lot better. Love the hair and makeup, which are fun. There’s a trend toward matching your eyeshadow directly to your outfit and while we can’t say it’s our fave thing in the world, the neon yellow is too much fun and too visually interesting to get huffy about on our parts. It’s the top that really confuses us. First, it would help the ensemble tremendously if we couldn’t see her bra; not because we’re prudes but because there’s already so much going on here. Second, while we appreciate the unusual choice and the bold colors, that top looks like something you wear to go surfing; not something you pair with a sequined skirt. Are we just not getting it? Is this feeling Pixar-appropriate to you? Put more simply:
