Commence eye rolling.
Gucci creative director Allesandro Michele and Jared Leto have long been twinning besties, so they decided to take their narcissistic love of each other and apply it to the 2022 Met Gala theme. This moment of branding and self-love is meant to be a reference to 19th century photographic studies of motion pioneered by Eadweard Muybridge. Sure. Okay. We won’t deny that the suits are lovely and we appreciate the diamond hair clips. The clutches and the gloves look dumb, but then again, that probably wasn’t much of a consideration for them, given the overall presentation. It’s fine. They’re fine. It’s probably the least obnoxious look Leto’s sported in years. We shouldn’t be so eye-rolly about it, but we can’t help thinking how creepy it is.
