Cannes Film Festival 2022: amfAR Gala Red Carpet

Posted on May 27, 2022

The stars came out for the amfAR gala at Cannes and they were kind enough to give us plenty to talk about!

Alton Mason in Kaushik Velendra

We love his sense of proportion and silhouette, although we think the hem/shoe situation is questionable.

Cara Delevingne in Mônot

This is her version of low-key and effortless.

Charli XCX in Jean Paul Gaultier Couture

We like the design in an editorial sort of way, but Gaultier Couture isn’t always the most red carpet-friendly fashion. We give her credit for picking it and trying it, but it’s not for her.

Christina Aguilera

She’s morphed into this sort of Old School Hollywood/Burlesque glam, like a combination of Ginger Rogers and Mae West headlining a Vegas drag revue, and honestly, we don’t mind it for her at all.

Ciara in Dundas

She’s one of the few here who opted for color and we find ourselves wishing she’d tone it down a little. We’re tired of that Valentino pink, so maybe that’s why we wish she’d ditched the gloves and worn a pair of silver sandals. The diamonds over the opera gloves are a bit too retro for us.

Claire Foy in Mônot

Drab and a little matronly, if we’re being blunt. You can do better than this, Claire.

Coco Rocha in Iris van Herpen Couture

It’s fun, weird and perfect for the setting. The colors are really unusual, but given how colorless this crowd is, they’re appreciated.

Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton

The skirt’s pretty, but that unresolved and ill fitted bodice is a crime. She needs a pendant.

Diplo

This is all working really well, but he should stop posing like that.

Edgar Ramirez

Sure. Fine. Go brush your hair.

Indya Moore in Mônot

This is giving ’70s Bond Girl and we’re here for it.

Milla Jovovich in Lever Couture

She’s a girl from Kyiv showing her support by wearing a Ukrainian label. The dress is gorgeous. We don’t think the accessories are working.

Ricky Martin in Dior Homme

Can’t argue with a hot classic.

Vanessa Hudgens in Miu Miu

The textile has that hotel wallpaper quality to it and we don’t think the yoke and neckline work all that well with it, but she’s just the gal to pull this sort of tacky glam off.
