Anne Hathaway in Chanel at the MoMA Film Benefit

Posted on December 15, 2021

While this wasn’t a premiere or other sort of openly promotional event, The MoMA Film Benefit tribute to Penelope Cruz was still chock full of stars, many of whom showed up in Chanel because the house was hosting the event for one of its muses. In other words, we’re okay with being at least mildly judgy here. Not that we have anything terrible to say about Anne Hathaway’s Chanel getup for the evening:

We do, however, have notes.

Personally, we don’t think the white accessories work well with the dress at all, no matter what the House of Chanel says. It’s a cute, sort of low-key dress (if head-to-toe Chanel ripped hot from the latest runway can be called low-key), but we’re not in love with the design; mainly the thick, apron-like straps and the weird embellishments around the waist. We’ll give her credit for working the hell out of the look, but we don’t love the design or most of the styling.
