Darlings, it’s one of our favorite times of the year: prestige film release season. It’s a time where actors and actresses get very serious with their fashion so as to underline the prestigious nature of their film (and also to maybe get some awards buzz going). In other words, it’s a time for A-list acting professionals to serve high-end fashion. And on that note, here’s Tessa Thompson, giving you old-school eleganza:
She reminds us quite a bit of Maggie Gyllenhaal in that she looks the absolute best when she’s in styles that remind you of the 1930s and 1940s. We think the neckline is lovely and the bottom half has that Old Hollywood feel to it. But we just can’t get past the high contrast between the black sequined bodice and the white satin skirt. Plus it looks a little pucker-y to our eyes. Overall, the style really works for her, so do our nitpicks matter here? We’re asking.
