Darlings, today we’ve shown you the serious references, the political slogans, the underlying meanings, and the times when you shouldn’t overthink things in regards to this year’s Met Gala red carpetry. The one thing we haven’t discussed yet just happens to be the style Emily Blunt is most adept at serving: delightful whimsy.
It’s not complicated and (five-pointed stars aside) it’s not really on theme. It’s a reference to an old Hedy Lamarr costume and an homage to her as an actress and inventor, but we just love it for being simply fun and whimsical on a night when things can get a little heavy-handed. She looks gorgeous and we could all use a break from the seriousness for a minute.
