Tessa Thompson Promotes “Passing” in Gucci

Like her Passing co-star Ruth Negga, Tessa Thompson’s taking the opportunity afforded by a virtual Sundance Festival and dressing in decided un-Sundance style. But considering how hard she went for Sylvie’s Love, this all feels like a continuation of one months-long promotional style campaign. In other words, the looks remain just as strong and the choices just as adventurous.

We’re DYING to know what shoes she’s wearing but aside from that, we have no issues here. The gold of the jacket looks fantastic with the shimmering blacks. We love that the makeup and jewelry were both really played down.

The runway styling is being replicated exactly with this look. That’s not usually our favorite approach in the world, but it’s such a specific sort of look that we’re not sure any of the individual pieces would work nearly as well on their own. Love the boots and the skirt. The jacket’s kind of sharp, but those puffy sleeves are a bit on the weird side.
