The drive-in premiere red carpet. Let’s just sit with that for a moment and consider how completely weird that phrase would’ve sounded a year ago. And yet here we are, thinking (in our typical over-the-top way) “MISS TESSA HAS ABSOLUTELY NAILED THE PERFECT DRIVE-IN PREMIERE RED CARPET LOOK FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!!”
Of course we have no idea what the “perfect drive-in premiere red carpet look” is supposed to be. There are clearly no rules for this sort of thing. Some stars have opted to dress as cazh as possible, as if they were simply patrons of the drive-in themselves, and we suppose there’s a certain amount of 2020 sense to be found in that approach. After all, there’s no real reason to step out onto the gravel and asphalt and pose in some sort of haute fashion. No real reason for anyone but Tessa Thompson, that is:
YAAAAAAAS GIRL GIVE US A TWIRL! SERVE US THAT “LISA BONET IN A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EPISODE OF A DIFFERENT WORLD” REALNESS!
This is just fun and we appreciate that she wasn’t going to let 2020 get her style down. Sure, the skirt’s pretty tacky, but we could all use a little more sparkle and glitter right now. Besides, we love the combination of cropped jacket and hat, which is made all the more fierce by her gorgeous hair.
