Kristen Wiig on “Saturday Night Live”

Posted on December 21, 2020

Dua Lipa wasn’t the only one serving up serious fashion on Saturday Night Live this week. Wonder Woman 1984 star and show alum Kristen Wiig came back to guest host and took the opportunity to crush it on the fashion front. We don’t know if this is just us, but there’s something kind of thrilling about a comic genius who also loves high fashion. It’s not a combo you see often.

She knows how to have fun with fashion while still respecting it as fashion. This is a seriously cute Christmas look. We LOVE the eye makeup.

Is hilariously fabulous a thing? We’re gonna call it: It is now. We tend to think there’s a line separating a comedian having fun with fashion and a comedian making fun of fashion. This definitely falls on the former rather than the latter. We love this on her. If you have do to a bunch of these sorts of interstitial portraits (as all guest hosts of SNL do), you may as well pick the kind of clothes you couldn’t possibly wear anywhere else.

Did we mention she likes to have fun with fashion? This is pure high drag, but the dress is actually gorgeous.

Sometimes she just skips the “having fun with” part and goes straight for high fashion. Again, a perfect sort of holiday party look. Love the shoes. The shape of the dress is a little odd, though. We think a more fitted skirt would make more sense.

Low-key high fashion. It’s got a bit of an ’80s retro feel (people forget it wasn’t all pastels, neons and shoulder pads), which goes well with her hair.

Hmm. You lost on this one, lady. Great sweater, but your skirt’s not finished forming yet.
