Mank is out today on Netflix and Miss Amanda is enjoying the highest buzz of her career. Like any smart Oscar-circling gal would, she’s stepped up her fashion game considerably. What we love about her choices is how they go a bit off the expected path for a potential nominee.
It’s smart, it’s sharp, it takes a pretty great picture, it suits her, and it doesn’t play into a lot of cliches or expectations. It feels like she’s being true to her own preferences here, which is never a bad thing. Well, that’s not true. It can be a bad thing if your preferences are terrible, but fortunately, she seems to have a good team and good instincts. We don’t think a double-breasted cardi-jacket is an easy thing for most to pull off, but considering how little travel and fussing she needed to do to make this appearance, she pulled it off. We suspect a couple of hours of wear, in and out of a car, would leave it pretty stretched out, though.
