We were as surprised as Annie was! Not that she didn’t deserve all the trophies in the world for her iconic and increasingly legendary portrayal of Alexis Rose, but we figured Catherine and Dan would get their wins and then the rest of the cast could politely sit down and watch others take home the supporting awards. We were so genuinely pleased to see her take the prize that we tweeted we’d just enjoy the moment and refrain from commenting on her outfit.
But in the light of day, we’ve taken a step back from critiquing it too much. We’re never gonna truly love the public bra and we think sheer garments need to have something to offer design-wise other than simply being see-through. But the suit is slouchy-chic and the big comfy sneakers are totally on-point for the night. If there’s one quibble we’re still firm on it’s the severe hair style, which doesn’t suit her. We get that it was likely a DIY effort and she didn’t want the hassle of sitting in a chair, so she gets a pass, of course. Besides, we really don’t think she expected to be giving an acceptance speech.
