Kittens, we have an awful lot of BAFTAs gownery to get to, quite a bit of which are dramatic and/or completely full of WTF, if you know what we mean. And yet we feel we have to get to this look before all of them, because we can’t stop thinking about it, even though it’s as plain as a gown can get.
Not just plain; but a dress with one glaring detail that comes close to ruining it for us – namely, the dropped waist. And this is, of course, a matter of taste, but spaghetti straps never quite feel formal enough to us. But like a lot of pale, blue-eyed blondes, she does tend to look amazing in black. And her head styling is simply flawless here. The hair and makeup are gorgeous and the earrings add just the amount of color the look needs. We don’t mind the idea of her in a simple black gown when everything from the neck up looks this great. Would we have picked this particular black gown? Probably not. Still, it’s a beautifully memorable look.
