The third shift came in all sassy and shady, which was good for us for two reasons: First, because of the time-wasting format, where each bracket gets ten minutes of explanation regarding the rules, which the audience at home has heard twice at this point so anything to break up that monotony can only be considered a good thing; and second, because, we couldn’t remember who half these bitches were so we appreciated the bitchy reminders of each of their personalities.
SHUGA CAIN

Kind of an awkwardly proportioned look, but our recollection is that she was never all that great about things like proportionizing.
SAM STAR

She basically dressed up in the show’s branding colors, which we don’t think was a coincidence. She’s a pageant queen and she’s in it to win it, so dressing up like the Werk Room just makes sense to her. It’s a cute look. She’s kind of a lot to take.
HERSHII LIQCOUR-JETÉ

Considering how bad her exit look was, not to mention that it was the only thing she got to model on that runway, it was smart of Hershii to go for full drag here instead of a pretty lady look.
JASMINE KENNEDIE

It’s fine. The problem with serving body in a drag competition is that it’s impossible for you to show us anything new at this point. There’s only so many ways you can arrange those strings.
JOEY JAY

We hope Joey makes it all the way to the finals, because it’s SO GODDAMN REFRESHING to have an entertainingly shady queen in the proceedings, as opposed to those tired girls who show up determined to be the season’s villain. Unfortunately, the drag we saw this episode may not get here there.
KENNEDY DAVENPORT

She’s Kennedy Davenport. Of course she looks amazing.

Get to work, girls.

Yadda-yadda, “I don’t know what to do/I don’t have enough stuff/I can’t sew.” Lather, rinse, repeat.

The challenge format may be tired, but we’ll always take the time to watch a bunch of queens just be queens with each other, and this bracket may be our favorite of the season for its mix of shady bitches, seen-it-all vets, and Porkchop queens with something to prove. We know there’s a significant portion of the fandom who gets upset when the queens get shady with each other, but watching these girls snipe at each other at the makeup mirror is one of the last parts of the show that just feels like true drag.

Unfortunately, while they were fun to hang out with, it turns out there isn’t a surplus of design talent in this group.

The judges aren’t going to legitimately critique any of the All-Stars, because none of them will come back if they think they’re going to get yelled at. This would have gotten angry responses from Ru and Michelle some time around season 6 of the main show.

Shug had a pretty fun concept, but the execution was horrifyingly bad. Again, if this were legit, she’d have been raked over the coals for that raw edge.

All the credit in the world to Jasmine, because she found a really cute, creative way to serve body. She used the straps and the mesh really well, and she thought about her color story. Sam gave the judges the full drag experience and it was almost comical how far ahead of the other queens she was. This look is insanely good.

Hershii helped her look along with some smart styling, but it wasn’t a bad effort, all things considered. The shorts are awful, though. At least it looked finished. Joey also styled the shit out of her look. The bustier mostly works but we though the skirt was terrible.

Sam and Jasmine faced off for the lip sync and there’s just no way we’d argue with those choices. They were the clear frontrunners this week and we suspect Kennedy’s not gonna be happy about that.

They’re both excellent lip sync queens, so it made for a fun watch. We thought Jasmine did a better job, but we suppose there was no way Ru wasn’t going to reward that Moschino-inspired look.
