Gold Meets Golden Event Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on January 08, 2020

We’re traveling back in time to the hazy days of this past weekend, before the Golden Globes were handed out, when every buzz-worthy scene-stealer was out in their carefully selected finery. Join us, won’t you? On a journey of discovery. And judgment.

Beanie Feldstein in MSGM

Mmm. Girl, we want to, but we just can’t. The color’s great and the general shape is fine, but it’s a wrinkled mess and the sad bow is not helping.

Ben Platt in Berluti

We love when guys opt for candy-colored suits and wild prints for the red carpet, but boy does this have the whiff of “retirement community Lothario” wafting all over it.

Cynthia Erivo in Gucci

Cute and low-key (for her). We can see opting for nude shoe choice, but we’d have rather a bit more color or maybe sparkle down there.

Hunter King in John Paul Ataker

Top is silly, but cute. The pants look incredibly cheap given how well you can see the pockets and the hem.

Joey King in Ana Ljubinkovič

We love her quirky, go-for-it sense of style, but this is a bit of a horrorfrock.

Naomi Watts in Brock Collection

Not to be bitches, but unless it’s a really dramatic rendering, why would anyone choose gray for a daytime event red carpet? Granted, the problem here is more about the design – and those awful sheer panels – than it is about the color.

Nicole Kidman in Chloé

Nicole can only stay a minute, you guys. Then she has to pick up her kids.

Joking aside, this is sort of cute, although the competing textiles in the coat puzzle us. Even she seems to realize it’s just a skosh too casual for the event.

Rami Malek in Saint Laurent

It’s fine. Seen it plenty of times with him. A bit too dark and heavy for a day event.

Storm Reid in Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya

Pretty spectacular. She’s really coming into her own on the style front.

Taron Egerton

As we may have noted a time or two in the past, T Lo love themselves a thick boy in tight pants.
