Miss Lupita is getting some well-deserved recognition for her amazing job in Us, which is great for two reasons; the first, because recency bias tends to cause critics and voters to forget films and performances from earlier in the year. The second reason? Darlings, we would have thought that one was obvious.
The Lupita Fashion Parade is ON.
We are very grateful to her for serving up colorful, discussable fashion, and this all is certainly as photogenic as an awards-track-traveling gal would want her daywear to be. But we can’t say we love-love it. She looks great in the yellow, but we’re not sure the blouse and skirt really look all that great together. And we hate to say it, because you all know how much we like to swoon over swoon-worthy outerwear, but that coat is … not great. It’s a little too slouchy, the color’s a bit harsh and sports-team against that yellow, and it just looks odd with the skirt hanging down half a foot below it. The shoes and bag are nice, but we don’t think that shade of blue is doing anything to help the outfit.
Yikes. We really hope this isn’t a harbinger of what’s to come. We hate being anti-Lupita.
