As the days get shorter and just a little bit colder, as the leaves on the trees shiver and fade and wait for the end to come, the celebrity world starts returning from their yachts and their sunny hideaways to do the hard work of giving us something to bitch about. So let’s get to it, kittens.
Anthony Mackie
You had us until we got to the hem of those pants, mister.
Bella Thorne in Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini
It’s not reinventing the wheel, but considering how cray her public style can get, this is fine.
Brit Marling in Miu Miu
It’s a pretty day dress, but the print’s too delicate and the style too mumsy for a red carpet. The shoes don’t go at all.
Edgar Ramirez
Can’t complain about any of that.
Emily Ratajkowski
Everything from the waist down is great. That top’s a little overwhelming for the rest of it.
Gael García Bernal
Tsk. Try harder, sir.
Gary Oldman
Acceptable.
Indya Moore
You cannot deny, they certainly know how to serve up a LEWK. This is all a bit much, especially the earrings, but they’ve got the kind of bearing and face-serving skills that allow them to get away with a lot. Makeup seems a bit underplayed, though. EDIT: Turns out the earrings are framed portraits of 16 trans women killed this year so consider our mouths shut. Well played.
Isabelle Huppert
It’s pretty enough, but we hate the yoke ruffle.
Isabelle Huppert in Armani Privé
God, if that top had just been lined, this would’ve been breathtaking. We mind the visible bra a lot less than we mind the visible waistband.
Joaquin Phoenix
Pft. Whatever.
Joel Edgerton in Stile Latino
His style choices are always surprising because he looks like a guy who wouldn’t put the effort in. That suit’s a great color. Not feeling the shoes.
Kate Moss
Fine. A bit dreary.
Lily Rose-Depp in Chanel
Cute, but we’ll never not think strapless tweed is weird.
Margaret Qualley in Gucci
Some of her photo call looks from this week were pretty terrible, but this is absolutely gorgeous on her. The hair and makeup aren’t quite up to it, though.
Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera, Laura Carmichael and Hugh Bonneville
We’re so happy to see them again we won’t even bother being bitches about their outfits.
Sienna Miller in Gucci
What a gorgeous caftan. This may be one of the best red carpet efforts we’ve ever seen from her.
Yara Shahidi
She almost pulls this off, but the finish is too shiny and those brown pumps make no kind of sense.
