It’s day two of our Emmys coverage and you know what that means, kittens! Time to shove whole groups of people together under random themes in order to do a mass judging so we can keep things moving. We’ve given the spotlight post to a lot of this year’s winners already, but it’s time for us to round up the rest of them (most of whom wore dull tuxes) and send them off good and judged.
Alex Borstein in Kevin Bennett
We can see the argument that this is too literally retro and takes things to a costume level. Truth be told, we might have made that argument ourselves except for two things: her salute to her grandmother, who stepped out of line in a concentration camp and the fact that this particular tribute suits her insanely well.
Ben Whishaw
He’s so adorably charming that we won’t linger on how disappointing we found his tux.
Bill Hader in Dior Homme
Fine. Whatever. Good job.
Jason Bateman in Dior Homme (with Amanda Anka)
Yes, yes. All fine.
Jharrel Jerome
Very good.
Sorry, guys. You didn’t give us much to work with here.
Patricia Arquette in LBV
It took us a while, but we’ve come around on this. We really hate the bag and allowed it to color our perception of the whole look, but the dress suits her well and photographs dramatically. She looks distinct and very much herself.
Peter Dinklage
Nicely chosen and as always, beautifully fitted. We just wish he’d work on his grooming a bit.
