We are huge fans of Betty, who’s making a star turn on GLOW and really deserves to be moved to the next tier in her career, as far as we’re concerned. We’re rooting for the lady, but we’ve gotta say, sometimes her style choices make it a little hard. She’s got everything modern fashion tends to love most and can look good in a vast range of current offerings, but she always seems to go for stuff that actively works against her. Case in point:
Good lord, a belted suede long-sleeved calf-length dress in New York in August? What, are you doing some sort of cult ritual or something? Is this a form of penance or self-flagellation?
Regardless of the temperature or her ability to overcome it, it’s just not a great look. It’s so weird that she’s so heavily covered up but wearing a delicate pair of ankle-strap sandals. If it was December and she had some boots on, this might actually come together a little better. Even then, it’s tough to make head-to-toe rust-colored suede work in any situation. This is what we don’t understand about choices like these. Why make things so hard on yourself by picking such an impossible-to-work ensemble?
