Okay, the big news is that Glow is coming back for its third season this week. Yay, that. The other big story is that we finally figured out a way to frame Miss Alison’s somewhat underwhelming history of style choices. She’s kind of Lea Michele-ing it.
That’s a little unfair, we admit. Miss Lea had a history of really tacky, sexified promo wear for a good portion of her time in the A-List spotlight. Alison sometimes veers into tacky, but more often than not, we’re looking at something like this. We’d call this Sexy Twee. It’s okay. Not the worst thing we’ve seen her wear. We really don’t like the cutouts, the bows or the frayed hem, all of which combine to make the entire point of this dress. But our point here is the same one we used to make to Lea all the time back in the day. There’s nothing wrong with a lady who wants to play up her sexy side in her style choices. There’s nothing wrong with a low-cut dress or some cutouts if that’s what a lady is feeling. We just think she is much, MUCH better suited to capital-T Twee, much like Lea was. In other words… girl, that’s not your dress. Not really. Make Michelle Williams your guide in these matters, Allison. She’s the Queen of Twee. Cute separates, rich colors, fun prints, killer accessories, lots of little details.
