We give the stars of the film the spotlight they deserved, but it’s time to put this high-glam event to bed with some bitching on the part of your lovely, if bitchy hosts.
Alfre Woodard in Badgley Mischka
Appropriately regal. Not to risk a queen’s royal wrath, but we aren’t crazy about the marriage of hem and bodice. They don’t quite go together as well as they need to.
Chiwetel Ejiofor
We are NOT feeling the cut of those pants at all.
Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey (in Philosophy)
Your new Ariel is looking pretty cute. We can’t say Chloe’s look is working for us at all but maybe she thought it was Halle’s night to shine a little.
Kelly Rowland in Prabal Gurung
Well, she got the theme down pat. We may not love the dress but we can’t say it’s not on point. Those shoes are kind of awful, though – especially with sheer hose.
Marsai Martin in Oscar de la Renta
You go right upstairs and put on a sweater this instance, young lady.
The hair is gorgeous, but the gown looks a bit too much like a bedspread to us.
Michelle Williams in Atelier Zuhra
Michelle will not be giving out hugs freely tonight.
It’s fine, but the length seems a bit off.
Shahadi Wright Joseph in Miu Miu
We like it for the way it combines a simplicity with touches of glamour, but we have to say, the trim around the bust is more than a bit overdone.
Yara Shahidi in Gucci
Can’t argue with that. There’s a “pop of color” trend resurfacing in red carpet footwear choices, it seems. We will have to recalibrate our settings to accept this new information.
