We’ve been asked a time or two why we don’t tend to return to the “Chloe’s alters” posts that we always used to do for Miss Sevigny and her style choices; many of which were so distinctly rendered that each ensemble felt like she was unveiling a new heretofore hidden personality. There are two reasons; first, any joke gets tired after six or seven years of re-telling it and second, while she still manages to be distinct in her choices now and then, she’s definitely settled into a more mainstream form of red carpetry in recent years. We don’t think that’s so much a matter of her age as it is a realization that celebrities of all stripes routinely break out the fashion cray now, which makes her idiosyncratic style just a tiny bit less distinct. We think she’d rather embrace the mainstream than fight for dominance in the margins with so many other attention-seekers.
For now, she’s Sally Shortskirts, working some mainstream Hollywood Glam:

Having said that, both of these looks are kind of disappointingly “just okay.” The first dress looks a bit too much like a skating costume to us. The second is okay, but those black pumps look kind of awful with it. And the severe hair doesn’t really do much for either dress.
Maybe you should stick to the cray, Miss Chloe. Your heart doesn’t seem to be in this sort of fashion.
