Style File: “Us” Star Lupita Nyong’o Keeps Things Spooky at “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”

Walk in looking Chic, walk out looking scary.

First, the Chic. This is almost too perfectly coordinated. Borderline Barbie styling. The hoops, shades and bag take it away from coming off too precious. Having said that, we’d have suggested that those shoes need a better outfit to showcase them. Then again, public appearance dressing is all about impact, so going overboard a little is to be expected. Besides, she can handle a lot of look at once. The colors look fantastic on her and the coat finishes the look perfectly.

But when the sun goes down, Scary Lupita makes her appearance:

If Michael Jackson wasn’t so radioactive right now, we’d have suggested a few Thriller dance moves on the way to the limo. This is fun, bright and chic, with the contacts adding just the right level of weirdness without going overboard. She looks great here, but it looked even better on TV. We’re loving the way she’s been handling this promo tour and how it differs so much from her previous several film tours.
