Angela Bassett in Missoni at the “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power” Exhibition: IN or OUT?

Posted on March 25, 2019

On the one hand, it’s Angela Bassett, in the kind of garment she was born to wear, serving up killer hair and earrings, at an event subtitled “Art in the Age of Black Power.” Asking you kittens to vote on such a setup is kind of stacking the deck in her favor. On the other hand…

Yeah, no.

She’s serving killer FACE and she should, on paper, be nothing but a stunning vision of fierceness in a metallic gold jumpsuit, but the whole thing has the drape and fit of a soaking wet sweater. Maybe we’re being nitpicky, though. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time and it’s definitely not going to be the last. But to our eyes, the way the whole thing seems to sag and drag completely ruins the look. We love the color, love the style and love the styling, but the textile isn’t working.

Yes? No? We’re asking.
