Because don’t we all need a shot or two of Dolly in our day? She tore that Grammys stage the hell up, didn’t she? The best part was the sea of clearly adoring faces from all ages and backgrounds. Dolly is everything. Dolly is eternal.

If we didn’t know better, we’d swear Trixie Mattel has had an effect on how she dresses. But she settled on this style decades ago and she’s been astonishingly, rigidly consistent ever since. It’s costume design – and very good costume design at that. We have no doubt that she could walk through the most crowded public spot in America without any of her Dolly trappings on and no one would recognize her at all. Her drag is that good and that complete.

Everything she does on the style front is simply a variation on the basic Dolly costume; tight, sparkly, with lots of bling and some ruffles and feathers when she can get away with them. The epitome of old-time Country Drag – and one of the last few great purveyors of it. We doubt very much that the art will die, however. Dolly is eternal.
