We’re not sure what it is about this look, but we felt mildly annoyed by it on screen and we keep having to temper our critiques here because they’re really of the nose-wrinkling, fussy nitpicking kind and they’re no fun.
We just got finished falling all over Regina King’s Atelier Versace, so we’re trying to take a step back and figure out why this one doesn’t work. Our initial – and still pretty strong – impression is that it feels like a grandiose throwback. It’s so … Sofia Vergara, we guess. That’s not a dig against Sofia because this is perfectly in her sweet spot. Dua just seems too young and cool for something like this. The nails are the one part that feels youthful and on trend. Still, if a gal wants to get her old-school glamour on, we’re not here to tell her she can’t. From a design perspective, the criss-cross motif is overdone and the train is unnecessary. We guess our point is that, as glamour looks go, this just doesn’t strike us as a great one for her. Girl, that’s not your Glam.
