We gushed about this when we first saw it on the red carpet, but in the light of day, and with the full picture revealed…
We’re gonna have to amend that opinion, we’re afraid. The color’s great and the whimsy provided by the stars seemed like a fun idea when we could only see this look from the waist up when she was chatting with Seacrest or Giuliana or whoever. But once we saw all the unneccessary ruffling and the somewhat sad sash, all we’re getting is “wizard.” Color, neckline and stars? Yes, please. Big robes? No, ma’am. This could have been a fabulous dress but it’s overdesigned and wound up looking like a Halloween costume.
On the other hand, the hair, makeup and jewelry are all bangin’, which probably had a lot to do with why we praised this so much. There’ve been a lot of these “SHE looks great but her dress is kind of bad” moments today.
