Royal Tour 2018: Meghan Markle Keeps Things Simple in Zimmermann and Safiyaa

Posted on October 23, 2018

PinMegs and Harry hop on over to Fiji to continue their whirlwind tour and to absolutely no one’s surprise, the fashion moments were extremely low-key and unsurprising.

It’s a just-okay sort of look. For a disembarking and meet-and-greet with cameras, it makes for a fairly poor choice just by being unphotogenic and difficult to keep wrinkle-free. If you opt for white minimalism, it absolutely has to be impeccable in every way and this dress just isn’t. Something that had a bit more going on in the design or color would’ve been a bit more forgiving. It’s not terrible. As we said, it’s just okay.

Jesus, Harry. Button your jacket.

Here is our latest controversial opinion about the Sussexes: They each clearly have not had the extensive training William and Catherine have had. While Meghan’s minor missteps or occasional lack of polish are to be expected (and can be seen as charming and relatable), it’s interesting to note how rough (relatively speaking) Harry is in comparison to William, who’s adopted an Obama-like smoothness in his public demeanor.

Anyway, Meghan’s gown is lovely, with all the details she tends to prefer, including a predilection for capes when going formal. The earrings are spectacular, but we think she could’ve opted for one more statement piece, like a bracelet. We also think the dress calls for an up do of some sort.
