Royal Tour 2018: Meghan Markle Gets Big, Bold and Bright in Fiji – FINALLY

Posted on October 24, 2018

Huzzahs and hoorays! Sick of our constant bitching at her, Duchess Megs closed her laptop, wearily turned to her staff and said, “Fine. Get me something so loud it’ll drown those two bitches out for good.” And thus it came to pass!

But girl, you’re fooling yourself if you think we’ll ever shut up. We are FULLY SUPPORTIVE of this surprising turn of events and offer nothing but our appreciation, congrats and positive reinforcement.

But between you and us, we don’t actually like it. Actually, that’s not quite true. We love the shape and style for her. The V neck and full sleeves look great on her. She also looks great sporting a fuller, more draped style of skirt. We don’t like the ruffles, the skirtpuffs (important technical fashion term) or the textile, really. We love the idea of her sporting a print in these colors, but personally, this one’s not to our tastes. Despite all that, we’d rate this one of the best and most successful public Meghan outfits to date. It’s photogenic, it doesn’t speak of a timidity about her role, it’s memorable and it’s totally on-point for the setting. She gave a pretty wonderful speech about the value of girls’ education, which means this dress was specifically chosen for its impact. We have never doubted that Meghan employs a meticulous and highly specific form of thinking when it comes to her fashion choices, which is why we tend to get whiny when we think she’s going in the wrong direction. It’s because she’s convinced herself she’s sending a specific message or making a specific point. This time, we think she nailed it.

In other news, it’s nice to see her in a wedges, which just so happen to coordinate perfectly with the handmade bag she was given by local artisans. We wonder if she’ll get to keep it or if it’ll have to go in the archive, because it looks great in her hands and she would absolutely be the type who’d make sure to bring it out in public again and again.
