Something about the stiffness and the cut of the dress is making her look a little stuffed into it, which she’s not, as far as we can tell. It doesn’t help that the styling is kind of a letdown. Plain black pumps, country club hair and bubble gum lips. What a bunch of weird choices, now that we think about it.

It’s going to be SO MUCH FUN watching Miss Reese in the coming weeks, as the Awards Season Fashion Parade really ramps up. Things have changes a bit since her Walk The Line days. People like Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway upped the poledance criteria considerably in the past decade; so much so that even male stars on the awards track are beginning to feel the pressure to groom themselves and let someone with taste make their style choices for them. Reese has pretty good taste for a certain kind of look, but every time she tries to go red carpet-dramatic or push the style envelope for herself just a little bit, it looks awkward to us. There’s plenty of Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta and Calvin Klein that’ll look great on her, but we will CLAP OUR HANDS WITH BITCHY GLEE if she gets talked into Dolce & Gabbana or Alexander McQueen disasters in the coming weeks. Please let it be so. Seeing her try to work that Sicilian grandma drag that Stefano and Domenico have been putting out will be entertainment GOLD.
