In or Out: Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé

Okay, we’ve all had our fun at Ke$ha’s expense; now the real work starts. As dedicated minions may know, Empress Cate of Ferocity has let us all down in recent days; opting to forego her normal fierce and fabulous looks in order to show up on red carpets looking like a dowdy real estate agent or loopy art school teacher.  The world recoiled in horror; the moon fell out of the sky; cats and dogs cohabitated. The End Times were upon us.

Well, it’s all a bit monochromatic, yes? It’s a fantastic suit, and we’re grateful she skipped that second tier on the skirt (as well as the satin leggings), but did she have to go with red shoes, a red purse, and orangey-red earrings? That will never not look totally Barbie to us. To our way of thinking, if you’re going to strip the outfit of its more out-there elements, then you need to style what remains correctly, otherwise it’s going to look a little severe. Something a little more interesting in the jewelry and shoe departments would have made us happier. As it is, we’re mostly relieved that she seems to be getting her mojo back.
